LUX is focused on the holistic user experience. This means looking at the patron experience as well as the service provider experience. We are here to support and empower you and your staff. We'll work with your staff to help understand and make sense of your user's experience. We do all this with the service design methodology.

Joe J. Marquez

Joe has presented and written on service design, UX tools, library space assessment, website usability, and marketing of the library. He co-authored Library Service Design and Getting Started in Service Design: A How-To-Do-It Manual For Librarians. His current research interests involve service design in the library environment and space usage assessment. He was awarded the first Future of Librarian Fellowship in 2017 from the ALA Center for the Future of Libraries and was named a 2018 Mover and Shaker by Library Journal. He has an MLIS from the University of Washington iSchool and an MBA from Portland State University.

Annie Downey

Annie holds a PhD in higher education and an MLS from the University of North Texas. She has written and presented on service design, critical librarianship, information literacy, K-20 library instruction, assessment, and academic library administration. Her other books include Getting Started in Service Design: A How-To-Do-It Manual For LibrariansLibrary Service Design, and Critical Information Literacy: Foundations, Inspiration, and Ideas. She was awarded the first Future of Librarian Fellowship in 2017 from the ALA Center for the Future of Libraries and was named a 2018 Mover and Shaker by Library Journal.
